Shannon McQuade (She/Her)
Clinical Psychologist
Master of Clinical Psychology, Griffith University
Life’s too short to be stuck in unhealthy relationships, let trauma call the shots, or let anxiety and intrusive thoughts rule your day. Shannon is passionate about helping people feel more in control of their lives and move in a direction that feels meaningful – which will be unique to each individual. Shannon has extensive experience working with adults facing a diverse range of challenges, including OCD, anxiety, trauma, grief, body image concerns, attachment and relationship issues, and life changes. Her background includes working in private practice and inpatient mental health settings, including in perinatal mental health.

Over her years of practice, Shannon has found that she gravitates to a flexible and down-to-earth approach to care. It is her goal to create a space where you can feel comfortable, supported, and understood. Shannon knows it can be hard to open up, but her clients find that the genuine care, warmth, honesty, and sense of humour she brings into the room eases this process. Shannon sees therapy as a collaborative process; she will draw on her knowledge of evidence-based approaches, but always with a focus on finding the best way to tailor these to your specific needs and situation to make sure they fit.
Shannon believes one of the bravest things you can do is step into a therapy room and begin the journey of self-discovery - with someone who is essentially a complete stranger!
It’s hard to know whether your psychologist is going to be a good personality fit for you, so here is a little bit about Shannon. She will definitely want to see photos of your dogs, she loves baking, trying new places to eat, going to markets or op-shops for a “rare” find, and going for walks with friends/family (especially if there’s a coffee at the end). She hopes this gives you a little insight into who she is as a person and what it might feel like to work with her, and is looking forward to hopefully connecting with you.
