Jacob Prout (He/Him)
Psychologist (Clinical Psychologist Registrar)
Master of Psychology (Clinical), Adelaide University
Jacob is a proud LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent psychologist, who is deeply committed to providing culturally competent, inclusive, and affirming care for adults and older adolescents (15+). He works with a range of presentations, including anxiety and mood difficulties, trauma and PTSD, grief and loss, stress and burnout, sleep disturbances, and relationship or attachment-related challenges. Jacob draws on his clinical training and experience working across private practice and multidisciplinary settings. He holds a strong professional interest in supporting members of the LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent communities and strives to create a space where clients feel safe, understood, and respected.

Jacob combines his strong skills in psychological assessment and trauma-informed intervention with genuine interest in connecting with and celebrating each client’s individuality. He approaches therapy with careful attention to both the bigger picture and the fine detail of a person’s lived experience. Jacob is interested not only in symptom relief, but in understanding the patterns, stories, and adaptive strategies that have developed over time, so that change is both meaningful and lasting. He hopes to be a steady and consistent presence for clients while they are navigating complex lives, healing trauma, identity exploration, or periods of significant distress. Jacob aims to help clients reconnect with their true wants and needs, disentangling these from expectations or self-criticism, and build a more secure sense of personal value and permission to pursue a life that feels aligned.

Outside of the therapy room, Jacob can usually be found walking through Surry Hills with a pop song blasting in his ears, searching for the perfect op-shop fit or a highly caffeinated beverage. He spends most mornings in his local gym, working out all his excess energy so he can focus his attention better on his clients.
